Volunteer Opportunities

The 2024 Annual Conference on Independent Living is scheduled for July 22-25, 2024, at the Grand Hyatt Washington. Committed volunteers are critical to this conference’s success.

Job Descriptions

Rally & March Volunteer: Distribute water and signs, direct marchers, and collect trash before, during & after rally. 

Door Keeper: Responsible for watching the doors during the Exhibit Fair before the Awards Luncheon and not allowing attendees in until ready.

Mic-Runners: Facilitate large plenary Q&A sessions by bringing the microphone to participants.

Photo Booth Assistant: Assist at the Photo Booth during the NCIL Reception.

Registration Desk Volunteer: Greet attendees and provide registration support. Create nametags, process registration forms and replenish bags / materials.

Merchandise Volunteer: Provide merchandise support. Set up and tear down merchandise table; assist in selling NCIL promotional items. 

ALD Volunteer: Greet attendees, provide and collect Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) to registrants, take ID and fill out sign-up sheet. Sanitize items before giving to another attendee.

DIY Poster Kit Volunteer: Assemble Do-It-Yourself Poster Kits on Tuesday, July 23.

Incentives:

  • If you volunteer 5-9 hours, half of your registration fee is waived / reimbursed.
  • If you volunteer 10+ hours, your full registration fee will be waived / reimbursed.

The deadline to apply is July 13, 2024. Applying to volunteer does not guarantee hours will be available. The schedule will be distributed to everyone who signed up via the online form. The individuals who respond with the desired shifts will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis.
